I reached out when I heard that her forthcoming book shares some of the concerns I hvae here at The Golden Hour: namely, how to raise thriving children in the polycrisis. Or as she puts it “Raising Terrific Kids In Terrifying Times.” I’m pleased to present our conversation.

Why do you think we're facing so much parental burnout these days?  What is the role of social media? What about regular media? 

There are many reasons why parents today are so burned out. The pandemic burdened parents in so many ways, and although some of those stressors have eased, others have not. Parents are also more involved in their children's lives than they have been in decades past, spending more money on and time with their kids than our parents did, which over time becomes overwhelming and exhausting. Some of these choices are a reflection of our own anxiety as we worry (for good reason!) over our kids' safety and future prospects.
