And for what it’s worth re “the kids bring me hope” trope, your thoughts about this have been helpful for me, AND as a former high school social studies teacher I can also say that it is simply, literally true that talking to young people brings hope. Spend a lot of time talking to them about important things, and you can’t help but marvel at their wisdom and think maybe we’re not all quite so screwed after all.
